Overview
Java Lava's core moderation commands respect Discord's role hierarchy. A moderator can never action someone with an equal or higher role than them, including Java Lava's own role. This is always on and isn't configurable.
Every action is recorded as a case with a moderator, target, reason, and timestamp, viewable and editable from the dashboard's Cases tab or with /cases. An optional escalating punishment ladder can automatically apply harsher actions (mute, kick, ban) once a member crosses a set number of strikes within a rolling window.
The Moderation page also lets you customize exactly which event categories (bans, kicks, message edits, role changes, etc.) get posted to your mod log and which channel each one goes to.
Setup
- 1
Enable the Moderation module
Toggle Moderation on from the Overview page or the Moderation page's own header toggle.
- 2
Set your mod-log channel
From the Mod Log tab, choose which channel receives action logs, then enable the specific event categories you want posted there.
- 3
Configure the punishment ladder (optional)
Define strikes 1 through N and what action fires at each (warn → mute → kick → ban), plus a strike-expiry window so old infractions stop counting.
- 4
Set DM-on-punishment behavior
Choose whether targets get DMed when punished, and whether that DM includes the reason.
