Overview
Java Lava is a full-featured Discord moderation, engagement, and community management bot, configured entirely from a web dashboard. No command memorization required to get set up.
This page walks through the recommended order of operations for a brand-new server: inviting the bot, running the setup wizard, and picking which modules to turn on first.
Setup
- 1
Invite Java Lava to your server
Use the Invite button from the marketing site or dashboard's server picker. You'll need the "Manage Server" permission on the target server to complete the OAuth flow.
- 2
Run the setup wizard
After the bot joins, the dashboard's Overview page surfaces a setup wizard banner that walks through picking a mod-log channel, a welcome channel, and enabling core modules. Skip any step and revisit it later from Overview.
- 3
Pick your server from the server picker
The dashboard supports managing multiple servers. Use the server picker at the top of the dashboard to switch between servers you have access to.
- 4
Enable Moderation and Logging first
We recommend starting with Moderation and Logging so your mod-log channel is capturing actions from day one, then layering on Leveling, Welcome, and the rest as your community grows.
- 5
Toggle modules from the Overview page
Every module has an on/off toggle from the Overview page or from its own dedicated settings page. Nothing needs a slash command to turn on or off.
- 6
Explore the command palette
Press the command palette shortcut (or click the search icon in the dashboard header) to jump to any page or setting instantly instead of clicking through the sidebar.
