Legal
Terms & Conditions
These terms apply when you add Java Lava to a Discord server or use its dashboard and website. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy.
1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of the Java Lava bot, dashboard and website (the “Service”). By adding Java Lava to a Discord server, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to them. If you accept on behalf of a community or organization, you confirm you have authority to do so.
You must meet Discord’s minimum age and comply with Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Java Lava is an independent product and is not affiliated with Discord Inc. Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
2. The Service and Permissions
Java Lava requests Discord permissions such as managing messages, members, roles and channels so that its moderation, leveling and automation features can work. Server administrators can limit those permissions through Discord at any time. Java Lava processes message content and member information only as needed for the features a server has enabled; turning a module off stops that processing.
Server administrators are responsible for how Java Lava is configured in their server, including automated moderation rules, and for telling their members what is recorded where that is required.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- break the law, or violate Discord’s terms or guidelines;
- harass, threaten or exploit others, send spam, or organize raids against other communities;
- distribute illegal content or malware;
- attempt to bypass rate limits, exploit the leveling or economy systems, or otherwise abuse the Service’s commands;
- probe, scrape, overload or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its data;
- resell or sublicense the Service, or misrepresent your affiliation with us.
4. Bot Personalizer Tokens
Some plans let a server run Java Lava through its own Discord application by providing a bot token. If you do, you are responsible for that application and its token: you confirm you are entitled to use it, you will keep it secure, you will regenerate it in the Discord Developer Portal if you think it has leaked, and you will comply with Discord’s Developer Terms and Policy for it. Actions taken through a token you supplied are treated as your actions.
We store the token encrypted and use it only to run your bot. You can disable the custom bot in the dashboard, and you should reset the token in Discord if you no longer want us to hold a working credential.
5. Your Content and Data
You keep ownership of the content you and your community create. You give us the limited permission needed to store, process and display it in order to run the Service for you. You are responsible for having the right to use anything you upload or configure, such as images, messages and templates.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Java Lava has a free tier and planned paid plans, which apply per server. Paid plans cannot be purchased yet. When they open, the price, billing period and what the plan includes will be shown before you pay, and paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals and the plan stays active until the end of the period already paid for.
If a server moves to a lower plan, features that need the higher plan may stop working. We may change plan features and prices for future billing periods, and will show the change before it applies to you. Every purchase can be refunded on request within 7 days, as set out in the Refund Policy.
7. Availability and Changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service running, but it depends on Discord and other providers and is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted or error free. Current availability is shown on the status page. We may add, change or remove features, and will try to give notice where a change would significantly affect you.
8. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by removing Java Lava from your server and signing out. Removing the bot starts the deletion process described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or end access to the Service for a server or account that breaks these terms, puts the Service or others at risk, or where the law requires it. Where practical we will tell you why. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as liability limits, will continue after termination.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. In particular, we do not guarantee that automated moderation will catch everything or never act on a false positive, and moderation decisions in your server remain your responsibility. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or community goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. This includes losses from automated moderation actions and from configuration choices made by your staff.
Our total liability for claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim arose (or, for free use, to a nominal amount). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date shows the current version. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, remove Java Lava from your server and stop using the Service.
12. Governing Law and Contact
These terms are governed by the laws that apply to the Service’s operator, and this does not remove any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. For questions about these terms, contact us through the support page.
